1. HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN A CM2 MEMBER NOW? AND WHAT ORIGINALLY GOT YOU INTERESTED IN CROSSFIT?
"It's coming up to four years now since I joined Crossfit CM2!! I originally heard about CrossFit from a family member who lives in USA, and then found out about CM2 on the Facebook page. At the time I wanted to try something new, and I'm still here, it's the longest I have ever stuck to any type of exercise!"
2. HOW DO YOU FEEL YOU HAVE PROGRESSED PHYSICALLY AND OR MENTALLY SINCE BEING A MEMBER OF CM2?
"I'm in the best shape I have ever been in my life (it's never to late to start exercise, no matter what age you are, or how fit you are) and it's a good kind of escape for me from my everyday life".
3. YOU HAVE BEEN SMASHING THE ONLINE WORKOUTS RECENTLY, BUT WHAT HAS KEPT YOU MOTIVATED?
"It's like a happy hour for me attending classes every day, it keeps me sane and motivated. I enjoy seeing the coaches and other CM2 members too, it feels like I haven't left. There is a saying, 'if you don't use it, you lose it'. I want to go back into the gym feeling strong and fit".
4. WHAT’S A FUN/INTERESTING FACT ABOUT YOURSELF?
"I'm witty, so sometimes I come up with jokes (wrong time, wrong place possibly) and makes me think maybe I have gone to far, but that's just me. I do like humour and a good laugh even when training hard."
5. WHAT’S YOUR PREVIOUS GYM/ SPORTING EXPERIENCE? AND HOW DID THE TRAINING DIFFER TO CM2?
"I was more into HIIT workouts and did a bit of running as-well. I often tried going to the gym but always felt I was missing the social aspect and support from others during a workout. I struggled with getting in a real variety of different training modalities which I feel that CrossFit does really well at".
6. WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE TYPE OF TRAINING SESSION AND WHY?
"I think one of my favourite sessions would have to be weightlifting, I always thought weightlifting was just for guys, but watching the girls smashing it at the box made me want to give it a go, and it is now one of my favourite sessions! I really enjoy the Gymnastics as-well, I find it very challenging but really want to continue to learn and get better at it."
7. HAS CROSSFIT IMPACTED ANY OTHER AREAS OF YOUR LIFE, SUCH AS NUTRITION, WORK OR HOBBIES?
"Becoming a CM2 member has definitely helped with my nutrition. I have always been good with food (well most days), but when I signed up for the nutrition program with Rich and Katie it really opened my eyes even more about the importance of what we put in our bodies, you are what you eat, so thank you guys".
8. WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO SOMEONE WHO WAS ANXIOUS IN STARTING CROSSFIT?
"CrossFit is the best type of activity that you can do for your physical and mental health, for these reasons:
- It will challenge you, but that's what we need, don't we?
- It will give you social aspects (members are so friendly and supportive).
- Professional coaching.
- A variety in the programming, you'll never get bored!
It's definitely worth a try, and I promise you, you'll get addicted".
COACHES COMMENTS:
Coach Tom- "Ingrid is a very well deserved Featured Member, even more so now with how much commitment and dedication to training she is showing over this lockdown period. This is absolutely noticeable from coaching Ingrid via the zoom sessions as she is absolutely smashing whatever is thrown her way and always putting up a great score or time etc! I'm really impressed with how Ingrid has progressed since I've started coaching at CM2 and I look forward to seeing her progress even more within the Olympic lifting/gymnastic element which will be more accessible once the gym can re-open. Keep up the great work Ingrid!!"
Coach Rob- "Ingrid is a pleasure to have in class she always shows up ready to work hard. She's not just here just to get sweaty; she's determined to progress her strength and skills. She's also recently participated in the group nutrition challenge to help make sure she's getting the right fuel onboard to help her recover from her training. The progress she has made over the past 3 years of membership is impressive and we look forward to seeing this trend continue."
